Disability Town Hall on the City of Detroit Budget

Image Description: Purple and green gradient background. Disabled Detroiters Demand to be a City Budget Priority, a Virtual Town Hall, Wednesday, October 4th from 6 PM to 7:15 PM. ASL and captioning provided.

Detroit Disability Power organizes Detroiters annually to actively participate in our city budget process. Every year we urge City Council and the Mayor to budget in ways that support disability justice and accessibility. This year, we're getting a head start. Whether you're brand new to organizing and the city budget process, or an experienced budget veteran, this Town Hall will help you prep and plan for action in 2024. After this Town Hall, you'll have a clear understanding of:

  • Overall budget process and timeline

  • Past efforts by DDP to influence the budget, wins and challenges that inform our next steps

  • Updates on how last year's budget funds are being used

  • Budget priorities for Fiscal Year 2025 in our disability community

This is a virtual, free, open-to-the-public event! Join us via Zoom! You'll receive all the details after you RSVP. ASL and captioning provided. Contact our community Organizer, NaJee, with any questions at Najaree@DetroitDisabilityPower.org.
