Disability Pride Parade!

Calling all people with disabilities and allies across Michigan and beyond! Let’s celebrate pride in who we are, just the way we are. Join us for performances by Will See, Elaine Kolb, Comedians with Disabilities Act, and more! DDP is collaborating with other disability organizations in Michigan to host our state’s first Disability Pride Parade, as part of ADA Michigan’s “I Love You, Lead On” event series. ASL interpretation and CART will be provided. Click the following links to register for the Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/virtual-disability-pride-parade-tickets-124472615945) and receive the Zoom link or to rsvp to the facebook event, where the parade will be streamed via Facebook Live. Feel free to drop by and stay for some or all of the acts! Questions or accessibility concerns? Please contact mgherb@umich.edu.

To further build our movement towards disability justice, we will be checking in on everyone’s voting plan and connecting folks with local services and mutual aid for accessible transportation to the polls at the parade. The November election will serve as a universal turning point for our nation’s most vulnerable, including many people with disabilities. There is power in numbers. 1 in 5 Americans lives with a disability or disabilities. Each person has on average 3 people who care about them and vote with a disability consciousness. The disability vote is power!
